42nd Annual Cherries for Charity Event to Benefit Rape and Abuse Crisis Center and YWCA Cass Clay at Hornbacher’s

FARGO-MOORHEAD (July 10, 2024) —The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center (RACC) and YWCA Cass Clay are pleased to announce the 42nd annual Cherries for Charity.

This event will take place at all eight Hornbacher’s locations across Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo, Wednesday, July 10 through Tuesday, July 16. Twenty-five cents per pound of Washington Bing Cherries sold will be donated to RACC and YWCA – providing “sweet support for survivors” served by both organizations.

Since its inception in 1982 by the Fargo Moorhead Cosmopolitan Club, Cherries for Charity has been a hallmark of community support and collaboration. With the added partnership of Hornbacher’s in 1984, the event has evolved into a significant fundraiser for RACC and YWCA, with over $517,000 donated to date. This is equivalent to 1.8 million pounds of cherries sold, highlighting the incredible generosity of the Fargo-Moorhead community and its commitment to supporting those in need.

More than just a sweet treat, the impact of this support makes a real difference for those experiencing violence and homelessness.

Domestic violence and abuse happens right here in our community. We see it in the news and when our neighbors seek help from RACC and YWCA. Community support of events like Cherries for Charity ensures survivors have a safe place to go and resources and support to rebuild their lives.

Members of the community are encouraged to visit any Hornbacher’s location July 10-16 to purchase cherries and help support the work of RACC and YWCA. Together, we can make a difference for survivors of violence and abuse in Fargo-Moorhead.
