Volunteer with YWCA

Our volunteers make an enormous impact and are a vital part of our organization and its supportive programming. By generously contributing time and energy, volunteers fuel our mission and make our work possible.

  • With a Group

Gather your coworkers, community organization, church group, or family and friends to:

    • Prepare a meal for families at the shelter

    • Do yard work, landscaping, painting, etc.

    • Clean, organize, or sort donations

    • Host games or an activity for kids

    • Plan a special activity for women

  • As an Individual

    Opportunities to volunteer include:

    • Childcare and Study Buddies mentorship

    • Donation sorting and organizing

    • Supportive Housing moving

    • Education & Employment class instruction

    • Special event volunteering

  • Host a Drive

We rely on community members like YOU to help us provide basic needs for those seeking safe shelter at YWCA!

Organizing a donation drive is a fun and interactive way to make a meaningful impact. Drive options vary based on our current needs, but generally include: cleaning supplies, paper goods, hygiene products, and more.

  • Events & Committees

Event and committee volunteers generously bring their knowledge, decision-making, and feedback to grow and support our programming and fundraising at events like YWCA Women of the Year and YWCA Chocolate for Change.

YWCA Needs List

Donations of new and gently-used items on our needs list, updated weekly, help meet the basic needs of women and children arriving at YWCA. These items can be dropped off or shipped to YWCA Emergency Shelter, 3000 S University Drive in Fargo from 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

All other used goods and items for donation can be delivered to our partner, Savers Thrift Store (1623 38th St SW in Fargo). Savers provides critical financial support for the items our community donates.

Community Partnership

With support from our Community Partners, we are able to provide a place to call home—a place where families feel safe, loved, and where anything is possible.

We offer several partnership levels designed to engage your team in our mission, increase your brand visibility, build community loyalty, and provide tickets to our signature events.
